Update on Internet Service around Clark Lake

Update on Door County Broadband Internet Towers

The Town of Jacksonport held their monthly Planning Committee Meeting this past Tuesday morning. The agenda included an update on the internet towers. Here is a brief summary of the meeting. The Grant Application for matching funds from the Wisconsin Public Service Commission (WPSC) for Broadband Internet Service with Door County Broadband (DCB) is in for Final Review with a Grant Writer. The grant will be completed and submitted to the WPCS along with the Support Letters by the deadline. An agreement between the landowner and DCB, for the initial tower, has been reached. When and if the WPSC grant is approved the installation of the tower will be scheduled by DCB. Updates will be forthcoming as they become available.

Update on Charter/Spectrum (CS) Internet, TV and Phone Services

On Monday of this past week, I received a call from Laddie Chapman who is the Program Director for Spectrum TV Channel 986. He records and broadcasts the following on Spectrum TV: Sevastopol Town Board (live), Door County Board, and Sister Bay Board meetings plus a few committee meetings as needed. Although Laddie does not work directly for CS, he does have management contacts at CS. He was instrumental in having fiber optic cable installed along Glidden Drive and is willing to assist us in trying to convince CS to install fiber optic cable around Clark Lake and the surrounding areas.

Laddie is currently determining the closest sources of CS Service to the Clark Lake Area as well as the CS density requirement (the number of homes per lineal mile) needed to consider pursuing a fiber optic cable installation study. More information will be provided when it becomes available.

Laddie Chapman can be reached by email at [email protected] . The writer of this notice, Chuck Birringer, can be reached at [email protected] .
