Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS)

Invasive species are a threat to the balance of lake ecology. WQVC sponsors programs to identify, prevent the spread of and treat aquatic invasive species.

The spread of aquatic invasive species involves both making sure lake users do not bring in contaminants but also to prevent transporting contaminants away from Clark Lake to other waters.

AIS signs posted at all lake access points summarize the state regulations.  Be sure to inspect and wipe down all of your equipment before and after using the lake and dispose of any water before leaving the ramp. Fisherman also have special rules about minnows, other bait and are reminded you cannot transport any fish in lake or river water from any source.

The DNR and citizen volunteers monitor for existing and new invaders.  The DNR Clark Lake page includes an updated list of known invasive species in the lake.

There is also a free phone app that you can use to identify suspicious plant.
