CLAA Boat launch volunteers needed

CLAA  is looking for volunteers to assist at the west side boat launch.  This is an opportunity to represent the organization while helping protect our lake. Sign up today at: Boat Ramp Volunteer sign up The volunteers will educate boaters about invasive aquatic species, cf. starry stonewort, and demonstrate a trailer and boat inspection during launch and recovery. This year we are also requesting a $5.00 launch fee. Volunteers should point this out and explain the process and answer questions about the organization. The fee is not mandatory. You will not be demanding payment nor doing any checking of cars to see if a boater has donated. We are also introducing a new map for boating advice on the lake. Volunteers will have copies to point out the slow no wake areas and some reference points around the lake. We will have a copy of the DNR boating regulations booklet for your reference if boaters have questions. There will also be a gauge at the ramp indicating the current level and the seasonal expected level. You will be able to inform a boater how to use this gauge to estimate the maximum launch depth  This is not an enforcement action. Last year we had excellent response from the boaters, especially as we integrated the education and inspection with our assisting in launching and subsequent landing of boats. If you are available for a 2 hour shift on Saturday ,Sunday and holidays during the summer then please go to the following link, provide the requested information, and I will then contact you about training and scheduling  : Boat Ramp Volunteer sign up
